Time for Action!
Take action on Sunday, September 13, 2009.

We have signed petitions, met with our political representatives, Walked Against Warming and shown how much we care about climate change at the polls. Yet our greenhouse emissions continue to escalate and our government is expanding it's support for the coal industry - with tax-payers dollars.
The time for talk has passed...It's time for Action.
Join us on Sunday September 13, 2009 for a day of peaceful community protest and mass civil disobedience at the Hazelwood coal power station in Victoria's Latrobe Valley.
In the spirit of the great global history of civil disobedience (Gandhi’s salt march, the American civil rights movement, the protection of Tasmania’s Franklin River), Switch off Hazelwood. Switch on Renewables is a chance, at this crucial moment in history, for ordinary people to stand up for a safe climate and for a transition to a renewable energy future!
What to expect.
Sunday Sept 13, 11am meet on the corner of Brodribb Rd and Nedenbousche Rd (off Monash way).
Robbie Thorpe, Gunai-Kurnie elder will perform an Acknowledgement of Country and smoking ceremony.
Our MC for the day will give an overview of the march and planned protest. We will then hear from Greenpeace Germany's climate and renewable expert, Sven Teske on the renewable energy transition possibilities for the Labrobe Valley, and Australia.
Greens Senator Scott Ludlum on why its the political will that is failing us on cliamte chagne - not technology, ability or money.
Louise Morris from the Hazelwood organising group will give an overview of the day to come.
We will march (approx 1500m) to the front gates of Hazelwood Power Station and partake in a peaceful community protest and mass civil disobedience - for those who choose to do so.
We will slap the long overdue 'Community Decommission Order' on this outdated polluting coal fire power station.
We will have clearly marked areas where people can gather that are outside of the arretable zones, that others may choose to enter...If in doubt ask one of the protest marshalls on the day.
This community day of peaceful mass civil disobedience will start at 11am and wrap up around 4pm.
We strongly encourage those coming along to the action to attend one of the skillshare sessions.
This will give a deeper knowldege of how the day is shaping up and what to expect. Go to 'Get Involved' & 'Trainings' tabs for more information.
Please RSVP to this community day of action so we can have an idea of how many people to expect, and make this day a fun, empowering and effective community day of action on climate change.
Switch off Hazelwood. Switch off Coal. Switch on Renewables.
Come along to a training session, get involved with organising the event (paint a banner, bring your friends, help raise awareness), but most importantly come along on the day for the first mass community protest and civil disobedience at the Hazelwood coal power station - Sunday September 13, 2009.
